Step 1
Emergency Medical Responder
Begin your career as an Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) whose primary responsibility is safely operating the ambulance. This certification requires approximately 20 hours of training. No prior EMS experience is required.
Step 2
Emergency Medical Technician
Progress to an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with 150-190 hours of additional training. Develop confidence, patient care skills, and real-world experience while working alongside experienced EMS professionals.
Step 3
Advanced EMT
Expand your scope of practice and clinical capabilities through our in-house Advanced EMT education. We support team members who are committed to growing their skills and taking on greater responsibility in patient care.
Step 4
Paramedic
For team members pursuing the highest level of prehospital clinical practice, we sponsor your education through the University of Montana’s paramedic program, guiding you to a fulfilling career as a Paramedic.
Wildland Fire Medic Opportunities
Take your EMS career beyond the ambulance. As a Wildland Fire Medic, you’ll deploy with firefighting crews, provide frontline medical support in austere environments. Wildland deployments offer adventure, camaraderie and generous compensation. With deployments lasting 2-3 weeks, team members should be prepared to camp in remote areas for extended periods.
Frontline Medical Support
Provide medical care and emergency response for firefighters working in demanding wildland environments. Help protect the health and safety of crews operating on the front lines of wildfire incidents.
Specialized Training
Receive specialized training to prepare for the challenges of wildland fire environments, enhancing your skills and career prospects. This will include an arduous pack test and you will be issued a red card.
